Padel is a racket sport played in doubles on an enclosed court slightly smaller than a tennis court.
It combines elements of tennis and squash, using solid paddles and a depressurized tennis ball.
The Court
Size: 10m x 20m, enclosed with glass walls and mesh.
Net in the center, like tennis.
Glass walls are in play — balls can bounce off them.
Teams
Always 2 vs 2
Players take turns hitting the ball after it bounces or on the volley (outside the non-volley zone).
Serve:
Underhand serve (below waist height).
Ball must bounce once and be hit diagonally into the opponent’s service box.
Rally:
After the serve, players rally the ball.
The ball must bounce once before hitting the back or side walls (not allowed to hit walls directly).
Players can hit the ball after it bounces or on the volley, unless inside the non-volley zone.
Use the walls:
You can let the ball bounce off your own wall before hitting it back.
You can also play balls off the glass to return tricky shots.
Scoring:
Same as tennis: 15, 30, 40, game.
A set is won by 6 games, and matches are best of 3 sets.
Winning the Point
You win a point if:
The ball bounces twice on the opponent's side.
The opponent hits the ball into the net or outside the court.
The opponent volleys in the non-volley zone (the area near the net).
